Full-Stack Developer

Position Summary – The Opal Health Informatics Group at the Research Institute of the MUHC is looking for a qualified full-stack developer to join our development team.

You will be responsible for developing new features of our award-winning Opal application (opalmedapps.com) which empowers patients with access to their health information. You are a tech-savvy professional with experience in leveraging the latest digital technologies to optimize web applications for efficiency and scalability, while maintaining a visually appealing design to ensure a great user experience. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills allow you to translate business requirements and patient needs into a functional and patient-first focused application.
General Duties:

  • Developing user-friendly front-end and back-end applications
  • Ensuring web design is optimized for mobile-based devices
  • Optimizing application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Assist in creating servers and databases for functionality
  • Designing and developing APIs
  • Assist to update or tweak mockups and prototypes as needed
  • Write reusable code and libraries
  • Collaborate with various team members to troubleshoot reported issues
  • Participate in writing functional requirement documents and guides
  • Stay up to date on emerging technology
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a full stack developer
  • Proficiency with front end languages and frameworks such as HTML, JavaScript, Dart, jQuery, Angular JS and Flutter
  • Proficiency with server-side languages and frameworks such as PHP, Perl, Python, Node.js & Laravel
  • Familiarity with database technologies such as MariaDB, MySQL or Oracle
  • In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
  • Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare IT system requirements is an asset
Working Conditions:

Status: Temporary, Full-time, 12-month contract, renewable
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education & work experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday (35-hour workweek)
